Oakerhater Honor Dance

On Saturday, September 6th we will be honoring and celebrating the life of St. David Pendleton Oakerhater with our twenty-second annual honor dance. The honor dance will take place at the newly opened Oakerhater Center in Watonga, Oklahoma.

The day will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the traditional Gourd Dance, which will be followed by Holy Eucharist. After worship, participants will enjoy feasting on fry bread, corn soup and other Native American dishes. A grand entry and dancing into the night will follow dinner.

This year special dances- like the Buffalo Dance- will be offered for children and parents to enjoy. We also hope to see everyone who has participated in the Gourd Dance to come and join us. An auction will take place for a hand drum crafted by Malcolm Whitebird.

The Oakerhater Center is located one mile east of Watonga, on Highway 33. Turn south on Laing Street across from Legion Park.

Designing Your Commitment Campaign

Our role as church leaders is to provide our members with tools to see their giving differently, to reach a turning point, and come to a new understanding of what it is to be a steward.

When individuals begin to see themselves as stewards, they often begin to think of their giving in new ways. They are motivated internally by the need to give out of thankfulness. They seek to work with God for the mission of the church.

Changed giving methodology begins with percentage giving.

Our goal is to create an environment where our members can become percentage givers and tithers.

This workshop will explore strategies that help people move from their current giving position to that of a committed steward.

Participants will learn theory, get instruction on how to conduct a campaign, and practice presentations. Participants will leave the workshop with a plan tailored for their church and a timeline for the fall campaign.
